Laura Clinton is a Licensed Midwife (LM) and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). She is a member of the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM) and the Maine Chapter of Professional Midwives (MACPM).
Laura graduated from Midwives College of Utah, earning her Bachelor's degree in Midwifery. Since 2022, her midwifery work has spanned three states, providing experience in a variety of birth settings. She has trained with home birth practices in Vermont, volunteered as a doula at the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMC), trained at a low-volume birth center in New Hampshire, and at a high-volume birth center in Seattle, Washington. She has had the privilege of supporting more than 100 births in home, birth center, and hospital settings.
Laura's passion for midwifery began at just 13 years old. While training intensively in pre-professional ballet, she found herself spending her free time watching birth videos instead of ballet performances. It was then that she realized her true calling was not to become a professional dancer, but a midwife.
Throughout high school, Laura immersed herself in the birth community by shadowing midwives in the Albany, New York, area, attending new mothers' support groups, and interviewing practicing midwives about their work. At 16, she attended an international midwifery internship in Warsaw, Poland, where she witnessed her first ten births. That experience confirmed what she already knew—midwifery was the path she was meant to follow.
Laura's approach to midwifery is rooted in informed consent, individualized support, and trust in the innate strength and wisdom of women and birthing people. She believes pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes deserving of respectful, personalized care. She is passionate about education, advocacy, and creating a space where families feel heard, supported, empowered, and confident in the decisions they make for themselves and their babies.
Laura believes birth is one of life's most transformative experiences, and it is a profound privilege to walk alongside families with compassion, humility, and respect as they welcome new life into the world.
